What is a Keller Bier?

News/Events
We are proud to announce that in 2017, Citra-Pils Keller Bier and Switchback Ale will stand side by side as the brewery’s only full-time offerings. Born as a classic pilsner lager, we brew Citra-Pils Keller Bier in the most traditional way, using only Light Pils malt and Saaz hops in the boil. We then dry hop with more Saaz and also Citra hops to create a special “twist” on the classic pilsner style,…

It's the Little Things

News/Events
As the plant engineer, I have spent many days of the past 11 years troubleshooting little and big mechanical issues that come up around the brewery.  Although, I am thankful for every large piece of equipment in the building that helps us make excellent beer, it’s these little things that help keep that equipment running. Kroil: The Oil That Creeps – When you have a 52 year old brewhouse you sometimes…

Beers by Bill: Dooley's Belated Porter

News/Events
I can still remember the day I walked up to Chris Dooley as he was cleaning parts at the sink to ask him what kind of beer he’d like to make next.  As our first employee Dooley got to choose.  He wanted to make a porter, and happily we both agreed to use Deschutes Black Butte Porter as our gold standard for what a porter can be.  Switchback’s porter is on the hoppy side, being a 100% Simcoe beer. …

(Switch)back on the Road: Thankful

News/Events
As we expanded into Rhode Island at the end of October, I happened upon this awesome spot in Jamestown on my way to visit some potential new accounts. Sitting there with a stubby bottle in hand, so close to the ocean got me thinking about many little things that have made us into the company we are today. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we thought an acrostic poem highlighting some of the things that…

If you’re new to our newsletter, welcome, I’m Maegan and I do all of the traveling for Switchback Brewing. On my way back up Interstate…

(Switch)back on the Road: Brewfests - The Olympics of Brewing

We love a good brewfest. What’s not to love? It’s the Olympics for beer. Breweries (countries) from all over (the world) come together, showcasing their talents in brewing beer (or sporting event). You’ve got snowboarding and sours, synchronized swimming and sessions, shot put and porters… Brewers from Vermont, Montreal, Massachusetts, California, Texas and beyond gather together in a similar fashion…

Brewer Bites: Citra-Pils Keller Bier

News/Events
The days are getting longer, the sun is getting warmer, and it’s finally beginning to feel like Spring. Of course, the best way to celebrate these bright, crisp days is with a bright, crisp beer, and our beer of choice this season, naturally, is Citra-Pils. Brewed and conditioned as a classic “keller bier” style pilsner with our house lager yeast and using only light, delicate malts, traditional Czech…

We started the bottling line early- we stayed on the line late- but everything we do, we do it for you! We are happy to announce that 12 ounce stubby Switchback Ale bottles are going to be available outside of Vermont beginning in March! While we were able to scoot a small shipment…
